This week, President Biden rescinded another Trump administration policy—this time restoring American funding toward foreign aid in the promotion and procedure of international abortions. Under the guise of women’s health, Biden and team have single-handedly returned the nation to using American tax dollars toward ending the lives of the unborn in other countries.
Called the Mexico City rule, the order has been a policy shifting back and forth between administrations since the 1980s. President Trump not only ended such funding, but also supported U.S. involvement in an international accord to promote anti-abortion policies. Some even honored him as the most pro-life President in American history, a 180 contrast with the current administration.
Alongside this heinous act, Biden has also added funding for the United Nations Population Fund. This was another pro-life change Trump enacted, ending support “over its alleged support for forced abortions and sterilizations in China,” according to Newsmax. Though this fund denied such actions, America had previously paid $69 million in the last year of the agreement.
While leftist pro-choice politicians and their funders cheered the executive order, pro-life leaders were appalled at the move. As Lila Rose of the anti-abortion non-profit Live Action pointed out, “Pushing abortion on other nations is not compassion.”
And even though Dr. Fauci embraced the change as a win for “women’s health,” he and others forget the move is not helping the “health” of young women (or men) in the womb. Further, abortion advocates fail to admit the many health concerns among women who have experienced an abortion procedure.
Any rational person understands the order does not just support women’s health—it supports murder. The ending of young lives in the womb is just as heinous as the vile acts of Nazi Germany during the Jewish Holocaust. While six million Jews were killed during this tragic time, legalized abortion in the United States has ended more than 10 times the number of lives—an estimated 62 million children since 1973.
At one stage in Biden’s past, he called himself a pro-life Democrat, opposing the practice. What happened to that guy? Maybe Planned Parenthood happened. The Planned Parenthood Action Fund (a separate organization from the Planned Parenthood non-profit) not only endorsed Biden, but announced it was prepared to spend $45 million during the 2020 campaign in battleground states.
Why is an organization that claims to represent women’s health investing tens of millions of dollars in politics? Maybe it was a tad upset at Trump and team for cancelling a chunk of its government funding? $45 million is much less than a potential four or eight years of policies crushing its budget.
Sadly, the executive order concerning tax payer funded abortions is not really only about women’s health or even the life and death issue of abortion—its appears to be driven by money and politics. If Americans truly care about the unborn, we’ll have to find ways to slow down abortion rates not only through advocacy, but through methods that target the funding of the abortion industry.
