The pandemic has been hard on everyone in this country. Democratic politicians have only exacerbated the problems facing our country. What you might not know is the true extent of the problem. Take a look at this shocking statistic: Roughly 23 percent of all money ever printed in our country’s history was printed this year. That has been in an effort to bail out Democratic states. The effort has failed. There will be no saving blue states. They are all going to collapse.
In March and April, we saw the first round of lockdown orders. They were extremely heavy-handed responses to the pandemic, and even conservative bastions like Texas and Florida took part in that approach. Although a handful of states remained free throughout (like North Dakota), the shutdown results were stark. The nation lost at least 30 million jobs, and the GDP shrank by a third. It was the largest and fastest economic disaster in history.
Since then, some states have learned and others have not. Florida is committed to having no more lockdowns. Many other conservative states have matched or partially matched that commitment, and they have good reasons for their change. While the nation was collapsing, North Dakota saw economic growth. The conclusion is obvious. The lockdowns — not the virus — are responsible for the economic damage we are seeing.
Let’s fast forward to November. There’s a new rise in outbreaks, and states all have their own responses. Super liberal states like California have gone into complete lockdowns for a second time. New York has shut down thousands of businesses. As a result, almost 30 percent of all small businesses in New York will never reopen. In New Jersey, the number is over 30 percent. As lockdowns continue through December and January, these numbers will only rise.
In the face of all of this, our nation has taken desperate measures. The Fed has tried to inflate our way out of the mess. We have already doubled deficit spending this year. There comes a point where printing money doesn’t help. We’ve seen it countless times throughout history, and the U.S. is now at that breaking point.
The bluest states have doubled down on their commitments to kill their economies. There are no resources left to bail them out. Their businesses will all fail. People are leaving en masse and there will be nothing left to save these states.
California, New York and New Jersey are all expected to face significant drops in tax revenue in 2021 and beyond. Oregon, Washington and smaller states like New Mexico are likely doomed as well. The only way to save these states is to allow people to work and be productive. Their governments are committed to preventing that outcome. The deaths of these states are solely due to political failure. When you destroy freedom, this is always the cost.
Democratic states are not ever going to recover from their decisions in 2020. The only hope for a bright future is a complete abandonment of Democratic policy moving forward. Maybe that’s a possibility in the next few years, but it is likely that California, New York and the rest will have to see long-term, sustained despair before these lessons will be learned by their Democrat leaders. The question is how well the rest of the country can survive until then. Even if North Dakota and Florida are set to thrive, it will be difficult to carry the dead weight of Democratic America moving forward.
