Sanctuary State California Protects Kate Steinle Murderer

The confessed killer who shot Kate Steinle on a San Francisco pier with a stolen handgun will yet again not be held accountable as California’s liberal courts shield him. Despite being a 7-time convicted felon who has been deported five times, the Sanctuary State’s court system has now conveniently deemed Jose Ines Garcia Zarate unfit to stand trial on federal gun charges.

A court evaluator reached the suspicious conclusion that he is not competent to stand trial, “because of a mental illness that is not presently being treated,” according to US District Court in California documents.

The Mexican national’s killing of 32-year-old Steinle — who died in her father’s arms — set off a firestorm about the high volume of violent felons who were crossing the U.S. southern border. These criminal migrants are being drawn like a magnet to Sanctuary Cities such as San Francisco, placing America’s sons and daughters in harm’s way.

President Donald Trump has been shining a spotlight on the murders, rapes, human and drug trafficking acted out by illegals. Democrats and the fake news media had suppressed crime statistics, and the real-life tragedies families have suffered. Garcia Zarate, who was acquitted of the homicide of Steinle, admitted to killing her. His ridiculous explanation that the gun went off by itself was enough for liberal prosecutors who care more about immigrants than their neighbors to tank their responsibility to get justice for Kate Steinle and her family.

“A disgraceful verdict in the Kate Steinle case! No wonder the people of our country are so angry with illegal immigration,” Pres. Trump tweeted.

“I urge the leaders of the nation’s communities to reflect on the outcome of this case and consider carefully the harm they are doing to their citizens by refusing to cooperate with federal law enforcement officers,” former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions reportedly said.

“When jurisdictions choose to return criminal aliens to the streets rather than turning them over to federal immigration authorities, they put the public’s safety at risk.”

Guns do not fire themselves, but this killer walked because he’s from a politically protected class of citizen by liberals: an illegal immigrant. Adding insult to injury, the Sanctuary court wishes to prevent the now “criminally insane” killer from being institutionalized.

“If neither side disputes the evaluator’s conclusion, the Court wishes to explore … what efforts should be made locally to restore the defendant to competency through proper medication, as opposed to sending the defendant to a federal facility outside California,” court documents reportedly state.

Even a casual passerby can see that this entire process wreaks of political intervention and injustice. Up until Zarate became the poster boy for criminal illegal violence, the Sanctuary State was more than willing to convict him, and of course, put him back on the streets.

“San Francisco’s policy of refusing to honor ICE detainers is a blatant threat to public safety and undermines the rule of law,” US Immigration and Customs Enforcement official Tom Homan said. “This tragedy could have been prevented if San Francisco had simply turned the alien over to ICE, as we requested, instead of releasing him back onto the streets.”

Never before have such Herculean efforts been made on this lowlife’s behalf to prevent a criminal proceeding. Thanks to California’s Sanctuary protections, other illegal alien murderers are using the same “insanity” defense. A Sinaloa Cartel member recently scammed the courts to avoid the death penalty, and Wilbur Ernesto Martinez-Guzman is using the defense to avoid trial after killing four Americans.

Way to go California. You just made the country a lot less safe!
