When the House voted to impeach President Trump last night, the biggest surprise wasn’t that Democrats voted to impeach him, it was how many Democrats crossed party lines. 3 Democrats-one a powerful committee chairman and 2 freshmen voted against impeachment and a fourth voted present instead of casting her vote.
This is a massive victory for President Trump. Democrats are fracturing. Not only did Nancy Pelosi FAIL to convince her entire party the President was guilty, but Democrats have actually LOST members over it.
There are 3 stories of Democrats who have defected from the party over impeachment. Each of the stories covers a Democrat who is leaving the party, and impeachment is one of their primary reasons.
Jeff Van Drew
Let’s start this with the most prominent story — and one you’ve likely heard. Jeff Van Drew is the Democratic Congressman who, by far, has spoken out against impeachment the most. At every turn, he has admitted that the impeachment case is weak, and he won’t just fall in line with the party over this.
You might speculate that it’s he’s in a purple district and worried about losing if he goes against President Trump. That’s fair, but speaking out against Democrats has been even worse. Instead of facing the full wrath of the DNC, he’s switching parties (and with President Trump’s support). A member of the House is leaving blue for red, solely because of impeachment.
It’s ok that you don’t know who this is. Solis is a Democratic commissioner in southern New Mexico. This is hardly a high-profile case. Instead, this story is representative of a lot of reactions to the modern Democrats.
Solis is a lifelong Democrat, but in her words, “the truth is that the modern Democrat Party does not share the New Mexico values that I hold to.” In short, Solis is pro-life, and the Democrats won’t allow her to hold that position.
Unfortunately for the Democrats, New Mexico is both deep blue and deeply Catholic. If they force everyone in the state to choose between the two, they’ll find New Mexico turning red in a heartbeat.
The crux of this came down to the fact that Solis dared praise President Trump for his pro-life actions. Instead of falling in line and pretending that the President is some evil monster who needs to be impeached, she admitted that she agrees with some of his policy. Now, they won’t let her be a Democrat anymore.
A slightly more known story is that of John Yudichak. He’s a state senator in Pennsylvania. He isn’t going full red. Instead, he’s switching to independent. According to him, he’s tired of “purist politicians who demand that you choose a battle camp.”
Impeachment isn’t the only issue where he contends against the left, but it’s at the top of the list today. Yudichak might not be ready to take the full red pill yet, but his commitment to integrity will get him there eventually.
You just read about a local, state and national politician who left the Democrats over impeachment. There are already rumors of handfuls more doing the same. The lesson here is simple. The United States still hates radical extremism. Now, the Democrats have to learn that lesson the hard way.
