Mock Assassination of President Trump Performed at Democratic Lawmaker’s Fundraising Event

Democrats do nothing to hide their hatred of President Donald J. Trump. Liberal lawmakers certainly aren’t an exception to this rule. At a fundraiser for Illinois State Senator Martin Sandoval (D) last week, one attendee pointed a fake gun at another attendee who was wearing a Trump mask. According to TheBlaze, the Trump impersonator was depicted in pictures grabbing his chest seemingly implying that he had been shot.

Sandoval hosted the fundraising event on the night of August 16, 2019 in Winfield, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Reportedly, the festivities took place at a golf club. Attendees paid a minimum of $250 to be at the fundraiser. The Senator was pictured with the individual who pointed the fake weapon at the Trump impersonator in the controversial snapshots so he was most likely aware and participated in the fake assassination attempt.

When the photos surfaced, Sandoval apologized. In a statement made to WCIA-TV, the Illinois Senator said, “The incident that took place is unacceptable. I don’t condone violence toward the President or anyone else. I apologize that something like this happened at my event.”

Other politicians in The Prairie State also spoke out about the incident. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, Democrat, stated, “As our nation grapples with the epidemic of gun violence, purposely pointing a fake gun at anyone is insensitive and wrong. I condemn actions like the ones displayed in the pictures because they lack the civility our politics demands.”

A spokeswoman for the Democratic Party of Illinois, Maura Possley, condemned the mock Trump assassination while taking a subtle swipe at the President. She remarked, “The tragedies in El Paso and Gilroy have demonstrated how hate-filled political rhetoric can fuel violence. These images are unacceptable and dangerous. The place to make our voices heard against Trump is at the ballot box.”

The chairman of the Republican Illinois Party, Tim Schneider, maintained via a spokesperson that Sandavol’s apology was “too little, too late.” Schneider contended, “The apology from Sen. Sandoval for the detestable pictures from his event depicting an assassination of President Trump is too little, too late. Dangerous imagery like this will be condemned and seen as inappropriate by people of sound mind; however, a mentally unstable individual who wants to harm President Trump might find them as an inspiration.”

He went on to say, “It’s inexcusable for an elected official to allow the promotion of violence in any way. If the individual pictured is a staffer or volunteer, they should be terminated immediately.”

Disturbingly, this isn’t the first mock assassination of Trump liberals have performed. In 2017, rapper Snoop Dogg utilized a toy firearm to shoot a clown resembling the President in a disgraceful music video.

Trump was also depicted as being encased in metal chains in the shameful video. At the time, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, (R-FL) commented, “Snoop shouldn’t have done that. We’ve had presidents assassinated before in this country, so anything like that is something people should really careful about.”

The 2016 presidential candidate added that if the “wrong person sees that and gets the wrong idea, you could have a real problem.”

In yet another incident in 2017, a New-York based arts organization staged a production of “Julius Caesar.” The title character was a “businessman known for his petulant personality, fancy suits and blondish hair with orange overtones” according to the left-leaning Washington Post.

In the play, the Trump-like lead’s wife Calpurnia had a Slavic accent similar to First Lady Melania Trump’s accent. Caesar, portrayed by actor Greg Henry, was stabbed to death in the play for being too “power hungry.” After mounting criticism due to the play’s content, both Delta Air Lines and Bank of America pulled funding from the production.

How hypocritical can Democrats be? During former President Barack Obama’s tenure, liberals shamed conservatives if they even mentioned Obama’s middle name Hussein. They claimed the usage of the former President’s moniker was intended to tie him to the Muslim faith.

Imagine the chaos that would have erupted if a mock assassination of Obama had been performed at a Republican lawmaker’s fundraising event. All conservatives would have likely been condemned as racists who condone violence against minorities.

This recent travesty against President Trump shows just how short some liberals’ memories are. Weren’t they just blaming the President for inciting the unspeakable violence that occurred in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio mere days ago?

Yet, apparently pretending to violently assassinate Trump is nothing more than a barrel of laughs to them. This double standard is not only dangerous, but it needs to be called out.
