Ocasio-Cortez’s Rhetoric Leads to an Attack on an ICE Facility

On the morning of July 14, a member of the far-left domestic terrorist group Antifa named Willem Van Spronsen stormed into an ICE detention center in Takoma, Washington armed with a rifle and a number of “incendiary devices”. After attempting and failing to ignite a commercial size propane tank that was attached to the detention center, the attacker was engaged by police officers responding to the scene and fatally shot.

Thankfully, there were no reports of anyone other than Van Spronsen being killed or injured in the incident. Had Van Spronsen been able to ignite the propane tank he was attempting to explode, though, things could have gone very differently – and according to reports detailing the contents of Van Spronsen’s manifesto, the blood would have at least partially been on the hands of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

According to local reports, the manifesto Willem Van Spronsen wrote before carrying out his attack contained language that was borrowed directly from Ocasio-Cortez’s recent rhetoric against ICE and ICE detention facilities. Throughout the manifesto, Van Spronsen referred to ICE detention centers as “concentration camps” multiple times – a term borrowed directly from Ms. Ocasio-Cortez.

Willem Van Spronsen also referred to ICE detention centers as being “corporate for profit” throughout his manifesto – another description taken directly from Ocasio-Cortez’s tirade against the organization.

Unsurprisingly, though, this important detail of the attack is something that the mainstream media has entirely ignored. While those in the media are quick to spend hours berating President Trump for his supposed “dangerous rhetoric”, the rhetoric of Ocasio-Cortez leading to an attempted mass murder against US officials apparently isn’t even worth a footnote.

Like most of the errors made by members of the Democratic party, even an error as dangerous as this is dutifully swept under the rug by a mainstream media that continues to be the lapdog of the Democratic party.

Given that Ocasio-Cortez has faced no backlash over the consequences of her ill-chosen words—save from a few conservative media outlets that have taken her to task—it’s doubtful that she has learned any lesson from this terrible incident about the significance of the words she says.

To the socialist left and the likes of Antifa, Ocasio-Cortez is a god-like figure. When she says that the centers used to temporarily detain and sort lawbreakers entering this country illegally are equivalent to concentration camps where Jews were tortured and murdered in droves, her loyal followers take notice – and they take her words very seriously.

It wouldn’t be wrong, after all, to blow up an actual Nazi concentration camp during WWII. If Ocasio-Cortez says that ICE detention centers are the same thing, the crazies in Antifa aren’t likely to argue.

Thankfully, the attack in Takoma, Washington ended about as well as it could. Thanks both to the bravery of the Tacoma Police Department as well as the sheer incompetence of Antifa’s finest, the only life lost was that of the terrorist – and zero innocent lives were lost. In the wake of this attack, though, Ocasio-Cortez deserves to face the blame for the consequences of her words.

If we were fortunate enough to live in a country with a mainstream media that didn’t hold Democrats and Republicans to two very different standards, the consequences of Ocasio-Cortez’s “concentration camp” comments would have still been dominating the news cycle. As it stands, there’s barely been a whisper about the fact that a sitting member of Congress just encouraged an attempted mass murder against US officials.

The frightening reality is that Ocasio-Cortez and her progressive comrades hold powerful sway over a very delusional and violent group of people. To make matters all the worse, she and those in Congress like her have no fear of facing backlash over the violence that their words incite.

Ocasio-Cortez is able to make all of the dangerous comments she wants with full confidence that the media will be far more interested in covering their outrage of Trump’s latest tweet. Meanwhile, the innocent men and women of ICE who Ocasio-Cortez has compared to Nazis are left to contend with the violence that her comments provoke.

It isn’t fair, it isn’t safe, but it’s sadly the state of the country that we now live in.
