Facebook and Instagram Blocked Conservative News Reports Doubting Jussie Smollett’s Account

When liberal media outlets run across a story that fits with their left-wing narrative, they shamelessly saturate the airwaves and internet with it. The Jussie Smollett alleged attack was no exception. Smollett, a gay, black star of the Fox show “Empire,” informed authorities in Chicago that he was attacked on January 29, 2019. The actor claimed his two assailants were “yelling out racial and homophobic slurs.” Smollett maintained the attackers stated, “This is MAGA country” according to Fox News. He also said one of the perpetrators poured some type of chemical substance on him and placed a rope around his neck.

Now, the Chicago Police has arrested Smollett for apparently orchestrating the entire plot. He’s being charged with “filing a false police report.” Naturally, while they wasted no time in broadcasting the gruesome headlines of the alleged attack, some liberal media platforms want no part of the new developments. According to TheBlaze, Facebook blocked two conservative journalists’ stories about Smollett as authorities began to question the truthfulness of his account.

The author of The Benedict Option: A Strategy for Christians in a Post-Christian Nation, Rod Dreher, claimed Facebook blocked his piece for The American Conservative. Jen Kerns, a reporter for the Daily Caller, revealed Facebook made the same decision regarding her story about Smollett. PJ Media reported Instagram also froze Kerns’ account when she dared to put a link to her story in her Instagram bio.

On February 17, Dreher tweeted the message he received from Facebook. The communication read, “You are not allowed to say on Facebook that Jussie Smollett carried out a hate hoax.” According to TheBlaze, the social media juggernaut banned Dreher’s piece because it went against Facebook’s “Community Standards.” Later that day, Facebook lifted the ban.

Kerns revealed to PJ Media’s Tyler O’Neal that the social media giant blocked her article titled “Is Jussie Smollett the modern TawanaBrawley.” She said her piece remained banned from February 15-17. Kerns also contended that Instagram froze her account in order “to protect our community” until she deleted the link to her article. She informed O’Neal, “When I simply put the Daily Caller link in my Bio…I noticed it froze my account- Instagram wouldn’t allow me to comment on other pages, & would not allow others to comment on mine. I could not use Instagram again until I removed it.” Instagram’s message to Kerns read in part, “It looks like your profile contains a link that is not allowed. We restrict certain content and actions to protect our community. Tell us if you think we made a mistake.”

According to TheBlaze, “The outlet emphasized that Dreher’s piece noted reporting on the Smollett case and included his opinion on the hoax chatter now surrounding it while Kerns’ article compared Smollett to Brawley, who in 1987 falsely accused four white men of rape.” On February 19, neither Instagram nor Facebook responded to TheBlaze’s requests for comments regarding Kerns’ and Dreher’sclaims.

In a follow-up piece for The American Conservative, Dreher wrote about his earlier article being blocked by Facebook. The author said, “I fully support Facebook or any other social medium having a policy of banning certain material (porn, neo-Nazi propaganda, etc.)” He went on to add, “But when you can’t talk about hate hoaxes in general, or about a celebrated hate hoax in particular? Presumably my blog post violated Facebook’s ‘hate speech’ prohibition (I can’t find any of their other Community Standards that it might have violated).”

Providing a link to Facebook’s policy about “hate speech,” Dreher guessed that his post about Smollett must have violated, “Mocking the concept, events, or victims of hate crimes even if no real person is depicted in an image.” Dreher continued, “But the entire reason for the post is new evidence indicating that Jussie Smollett was NOT a victim of a hate crime, but rather faked a hate crime!”

The arrest of Smollett makes Facebook and Instagram look silly for banning Dreher’s and Kerns’ truthful assertions about the developments in the case. The Smollett saga is yet another example of how corrupt the liberal fake news media is. In the days after the actor told about his alleged attack, left-wing media outlets reported the details nonstop. Talking heads salivated over the chance to falsely connect a possible hate crime to President Donald J. Trump. No doubt, these same fake news outlets are now trying to figure out just how little coverage they can devote to Smollett’s arrest and get away with it. After all, it doesn’t fit their scripted narrative.

  1. I stopped using Facebook almost a year ago and I have not missed it at all the only way to stop these people is in their wallet all republican and conservative need to close their Facebook and Instagram accounts and get them where it hurts

  2. I would argue rather than have conservatives boycott the social media platforms, we double down our efforts to get the word out of their censorship. If every conservative were to write in their blogs and complain to the masses, make known that it is unacceptable, the pressure would likely change the situation for the better. Giving up the platform is not the answer. We must fight the evil or be consumed by it.

    1. I so agree! You cannot hide, you have to be transparent and fight! You hear us Facebook, you hypocrites!

  3. Sue them until they either loosen their ,” standards” or go out of business.

  4. Who cares one way or the other with all the fake news out there today I did not know this actor so I have no interest in the story.

    1. You should be concerned about what he tried to do to our president, our country and conservatives in general. If you are not concerned, then you are part of the problem

  5. Where exactly does Facebook say they are limited to “leftist views only, or Socialist views only?”
Facebook (as Twitter and others) are only interested in Leftist views of hatred which are not fact. Thus, I do not socialize with morons who di not read and support the whole truth. I dont even go into Facebook because of their views and support of hatred.

  6. I’m blocked right now for 30 days BY THIS SOCIALIST “KIKE”!!!!

  7. The whole matter is disgusting. The liberals are besides themselves over not being able to blame the white population.
