Mainstream media has become the embodiment of the narcissistic, abusive partner. They lie to our faces and then cry when we accuse them of fake news. They make outrageous claims of being attacked even while they carry out character assassinations and libel on a daily basis.
Throughout all of it, they constantly gaslight the masses. Since Saudi Arabia had a journalist assassinated, clearly Donald Trump and Republicans are destroying the 1st Amendment. Let’s not forget who the biggest supporters of Middle Eastern Islam are in the west. Among all of this crazy, what the media just did in regards to the gender pay gap is the worst, most despicable dishonesty you’ll ever see.
This was an actual NBC printed headline, “Gender pay gap is worse than thought: Study shows women actually earn half the income of men.” The study cited by the article was conducted by Heidi Harmann of the Women’s Policy Research group. Her published research is titled “Still a Man’s Labor Market.”
Clearly, there is no bias in any of this. It’s not like a real scientist would title the research something like “Child Leave Impacts on Gender Specific Long-Term Earnings.” That might accidentally approach a level of objectivity.
As the insanity continues, NBC (and virtually every single other major news outlet) pushed the “findings” in the study hard. According to their claims, women are doing much worse than the oft cited 80 cents on a man’s dollar. Instead, they’re earning 49 cents for every dollar a man makes. America is clearly the root of all sexism.
What the Study Actually Says
All of these headlines and articles point in the same direction. The craziest thing is that the study itself actually debunks the gender pay gap. Seriously. Despite the bias and title, the research found a reason for its findings that have nothing to do with sexism. To understand that, we have to review the research methodologies.
This particular study was as ridiculous in its approach as you might imagine. Most studies that claim to find a pay gap simply average the earnings of all women and compare them to the earnings of all men. That’s where the 80 percent figure comes originated. This study does one better. It specifically compares women who have taken at least one year (notice that the number can go much higher) off of work to men who don’t ever leave the workforce.
More importantly, it doesn’t compare their hourly rates or salaries after this discrepancy. It compares total earnings. Apparently, when a woman stops working for 18 years to raise her children, she earns fewer dollars in her lifetime than a man who doesn’t. Holy science! We’ve truly uncovered the mysteries of the universe today.
The Unacceptable Dishonesty
This has been the theme of the purported wage gap all along. Women have never earned 80 cents on the dollar. What actually happens when you do blanket, unweighted research like this is that you compare two groups who work wildly different amounts. Even when children aren’t in the picture, men work an average of 10 hours more a week than women.
When you add stay at home moms to that mix, those numbers skew further. Comparing total incomes in this case is just plain dishonest. Everyone who has done this research knows that. They simply don’t care.
The same can be said of the media outlets pushing this narrative. Perhaps angry women buy more news subscriptions, because that can be the only motivation for pushing this stupidity. Every study on the topic that has ever compared men and women in the same fields working the same number of hours has found their incomes to be identical within the margin of error. There. Is. No. Gender. Pay Gap. This study is further proof of that fact, and the mainstream media is parading it as proof that American women are the most forlorn and mistreated people in the world.
The most frustrating — no infuriating — part of all of this is that they then protect Islamic culture. The culture that literally advocates murdering rape victims is all great and wonderful, but women who don’t work need to be paid exactly the same as men who do. That is the liberal mindset. That’s what we’re up against, and that is what will be writing our national laws for the next two years.
