Donald Trump is changing everything. Okay, not EVERYTHING– you still have to put your bread in the toaster before you butter it- but really, pretty much everything.
Do you want to know a secret? The Democrats created racism. Back when slavery was a big deal in the US, it was a big deal everywhere else also. The difference is that here, we stopped it first. We stopped it when no one else was willing to- and we went to war to back up our commitment to the sovereignty of the individual.
Now, here the one big thing they will never ever teach you in school- only southern Democrats ever owned slaves. This holds true absolutely without exception. You cannot find a Republican who owned slaves during the build-up to the Civil War. Then, in an attempt to terrorize anti-slavery Republicans, the Democrats created the KKK.
But then they pulled a great big sweater over our eyes. They tricked us into believing that the Republicans were the racists and that they still are.
Think about it for a minute. Who are the ones always going on about race, attributing things to race, assigning rights and status according to attributes totally beyond the person’s control? It’s liberal Democrats across the board.
Just look at the New Deal reformations. Roosevelt’s plan was to lure blacks into the inner cities. He promised them handouts and frightened them with boogie man stories about how the southern landowners wanted them back on the plantation. Since then, the black community has had a tough time moving up the economic ladder.
The Democrats convinced African-Americans and everyone else that they were on the side of minorities and that the Republicans hated them.
When Lyndon B Johnson pitched the civil rights legislation to the Democratic party in 1962 he said, “I’ll have those n!%%ers voting Democratic for 200 years.”
Snopes denies it, of course, but the quote is in at least three of the most authoritative biographies on LBJ.
Since then, a Republican has never gotten more than 20% of the black vote in any election anywhere in the country. But that is all changing. Trump now has the support of just short of 40% of the black community. That is unprecedented. It means the Democrats have no chance. But it means so much more than that.
It means the great lie of race hatred in America is over. It means the real racists can’t hide much longer.
Probably, the seeds of this great awakening were planted by the failed presidency of Barack Obama. He was supposed to be America’s proof to the world that we were done with wars of conquest and appropriation. Under Obama, the divide between blacks and whites grew wider and more fretful than it had been in over 50 years.
We were, and still are, fed a steady diet of lies about police violence and constant images of cherry-picked cases where a cop shot a black man.
But now, in the age of mixed and ubiquitous media, people are starting to understand how easy it is to make it look like a problem is systemic- when in reality it is selected for.
Of course, what really cracked the dam was Kanye West. Say what you will about his music- that’s not what’s important. But you cannot deny that West has massive influence with young African-Americans and he has made it okay for black people to look favorably on our president. In 2016, Trump won 8% of the black vote. At the time of this writing, the polling shows black support for Trump is at a staggering 36% and growing.
The Dems are lost, and they know it. Black people are tired of being looked down on by the Democratic Party. They are tired of being used as a token of pity, as a wedge, and as a moral bludgeon. The days of the Democratic plantation are over- black people are walking away- and there’s nothing that the race baiters like Maxine Waters and the guilt pushers like Chuck Schumer can do to stop it.
